When it comes to removing sticky messes, gum, wax, make-up and even carpet stains, Goo Gone can be of great help. However, if the affected area is not properly rinsed after the stain has been removed, the Goo Gone will leave behind a grease residue that will stain the carpet on its own. Here are a few tips that can help you to get rid of Goo Gone residue.

  1. Soak up all extra Goo Gone from the surface using a thick white cloth. Doing this will make the clean-up much easier. Avoid using paper towels to absorb the Goo Gone, as they are not absorbent enough and it is very likely to end up with a Goo Gone residue on your hands. Using a white cloth will ensure that dye won’t be transfer from the cloth to the surface you are cleaning.
  2. For soft surfaces affected by Goo Gone residue, use a white  cloth soaked in a mild laundry detergent to blot up the residue. Then rinse the area using a clean, damp cloth. Make sure to rinse the surface thoroughly, otherwise, a residue from the detergent may left behind. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to tell whether the residue  has been removed or not until the area is completely dry. So, let the area dry and if there is any residue that has remained, repeat this step.
  3. To remove Goo Gone residue from hard surfaces, cleaners Palmers Green suggest using all-purpose cleaner as one of the easiest ways. Apply a generous amount of all-purpose cleaner to the stained area, then wipe with a clean,  white rag. Use paper towels to wipe the surface dry. If there is any residue left on the surface, the paper towels will get dirty after wiping. If so, repeat the process.

If the stained item is delicate and you are afraid no to damage it while cleaning up the Goo Gone residue, consider taking it to a dry cleaner, or hiring professionals, such as cleaners Palmers Green, for larger items.
